The Power Of Words
The following scriptures show that God spoke everything into existence. We are also created in the image of God. Therefore, our words are powerful. Genesis 1, verses: 3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 6 Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 9 Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so. 11 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so. 14 Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years. 20 Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens." 24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. 26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
The words you speak bring life or death . They build up or they tear down . Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit . Jesus speaks of the power of our words . We will give an accounting of every word we have spoken . Matthew 12:34 "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Jesus says we can move mountains with our words and our faith . Our problems in life are our mountains . Speak to your problems and command them to be gone ! Matthew 17:20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." Jesus said we live by God's word. God's word is recorded in the Bible. We should live by speaking God's word, not quoting another man. Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ " Jesus said that His words are spirit and life . We should memorize Jesus words and speak them . They will bring life to our situation. John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Peter used the authority of Jesus Name and spoke this man's healing. There is power in Jesus Name and in the spoken word in the mouth of a believer. Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, "Look at us." 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." We receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior by speaking, calling on the name of Jesus. Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Again, the Word of God, scriptures from the Bible , is alive and powerful. Speak the Word to bring life to your situation. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Proverbs 10:19 .. But he who restrains his lips is wise. Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, Because our words are powerful, we have to be careful what we say. Proverbs 21:23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 13:2 A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth, but the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence . 3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. Proverbs 29:20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. He lays up the deep in storehouses . 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord . Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him .
