Becoming Born Again

In the Bible book of John, Chapter 3, Jesus tells a man "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."  He then goes on to explain that this is a spiritual rebirth.

God told Adam in the Garden of Eden that if he ate of the fruit of the Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good And Evil he would surely die.  Adam ate the fruit of that tree and he immediately died spiritually.  Physically, he lived hundreds of years more.

To be spiritually dead is to be out of communication/fellowship with our Heavenly Father.   Sin cannot live in His presence and has to die.  Our Father separated Adam and Eve from Him physically so that they would not die physically. 

In Romans 7 the Apostle Paul writes "Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death."  He is saying that as a young child he was alive spiritually, but at some point he became aware of right and wrong and at that time he died spiritually.  Like Adam, when we obtain the knowledge of good and evil we died spiritually.  We must be born again, spiritually, to see the kingdom of God which we call heaven.  Spiritually dead people when they die physically are dead spiritually forever and are eternally separated from God in a place we call Hell.

The sin of Adam and all mankind had to be punished, because God is righteous, He is Holy.  Our Heavenly Father provided one way for you to be born again.  That one way to be born again is Jesus Christ, the Son Of God.  Jesus became a man and lived a righteous, sinless life for 33 years.  Then this entirely innocent Man,  Jesus, was punished by God for your sin and for all of mankind's sins.  The punishment for our sins and all the curses for our sins were put onto Jesus Christ. This entirely innocent, righteous Man died physically and spiritually for you and me.  Jesus became sin and we received the gift of righteousness, along with all the other gifts described on this website.  Three days after Jesus died, He was resurrected, He came back to life physically.  He talked with and taught his followers for another 40 days and then he ascended into Heaven, while promising to come again.  Hundreds of people saw Him alive during this 40 day period.

The Holy Bible tells us we can be born again this way:

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

So, you become born again by confessing and believing.  If you believe that Jesus is the way, that he died for your sins, you need to say, out loud "Jesus I believe that you dies for my sins.  I give you my life.  You are my Lord".

If you confessed this and believed, you are born again.  You are entirely righteous, in right standing with God.  You have been adopted into a new family, the family of God.  Study the other pages on this website to learn more about your inheritance!
